The
resilience of our people is incredible. They deal with
the realities of these floods that have destroyed the
fruit of their labors in their paddy fields, they deal
with the reality that relief that is meant for them gets
misappropriated by corrupt village chairman and local
administration officials, they deal with their children
being washed away by the raging waters, and they say,
‘if god wishes it, we will not die today.”
As
rivers all over Bangladesh swell and submerge sixty
percent of the country, jeopardizing the lives of more
than 12 million people, life goes on – business as
usual – in Dhaka.
